When was the last time you bought yourself something                                                   special?

I very rarely buy myself something special.  Sure I splurge every once in while on  Etsy or Amazon, but my splurge is some new natural lip gloss, or an add on item.  I think the last time I honestly splurged was when I bought myself some new fringe boots 3 years ago. So I think it was about time. I wanted to buy something that I normally wouldn't purchase for myself.  So ordered myself a silk and lace night gown! (link here)  Like the good kind of silk, 100% Mulberry silk, not the cheap look a like I can find at the local big box store.
There is something pretty special about the words silk and lace.  I mean when I hear silk and lace I think of flowing light weight fabric that has a liquid look to it, I think of romance and soft touches. All these words can also be used to describe this beautiful night gown.

When I first received my night gown in the mail I loved that it cam in a black gift box that even had a green twine ribbon around it.  I mean after all this was a gift myself!  My new silk night gown was beautifully displayed in the gift box.  I  took it out and I was immediately in love with feel.  The 100% Mulberry silk is so soft and supple and has a light shine to it.  The lace trim and accents are just as soft. No stiff itchy lace on this beautiful night gown.

My new night gown is full length and fits oh so nicely. It has a tailored fit and flares out into a slight A line. There is lace trim around the bust and straps and the bottom, the low cut lace back is very nice look.  I feel like an old school Hollywood starlet strutting around in my house in it.  I love that after a long crazy day of being a Mom and wife I can slip into this night gown and feel like a women and not just a mom and a wife.

I am so happy splurged on this night gown for myself.  I am also happy that the care for this isn't to high maintenance, I wash it in a garment bag on my washing machine on the delicate setting with my knits and sweaters. I lay it on my drying rack and it dries rather quickly.

I think this would make a great gift for any women, especially one that wouldn't purchase this for themselves. I know this is a little pricey but I looked around and found this to be comparable to the $100+ price tags I found online and in stores.

Here is a link to the night gown I purchased.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/

I found some more affordable essential oils!

I use essential oils daily, multiple times a day. I am going to come right out and say that my favorite brand of essential oils is Young Living. I have tried almost a dozen other brands but I always run quickly back to my Young Living oils for all my needs.

I have just recently came upon another brand that is a very close second to my beloved Young Living. The brand is called Earth Shield (link here).  I purchased two of there oils at a discounted price and I am pretty damn impressed.

The first oil that I ordered was Gang of Five Essential Oil, it is very comparable to Young Living Thieves oil. So I used this oil just like I did my Thieves.  First I diffused it becasue it is cold season and my husband has the sniffles.  The scent is similar but has a stronger scent of a cinnamon, I like it. Then I used it when I moped my kitchen and bathroom floors.  I added 15 drops of oil to 1/2 cup of vinegar and water.  It cleaned my floors really good and the scent of the oil lingered a bit.

The second oil I ordered is Helichrysum  which is amazing for colds and any upper respiratory infection.  Now if you are familiar with Young Living and this oil you know it is a pricey one. But the Earth Shield one is much more affordable.  I diffuse this in my room at night for my husband so he can breath easier.  I also made my homemade salve (similar to vicks capor rub)  I mixed 1/2 cup of coconut oil and 7 drops of Helichrysum, 7 drops of Lavender, and 5  Rosemary essential oil and put in a small mason jar.   I apply to the bottom of our feet and on our chest to help with any kind of congestion.

I have to say I am very happy with these oils and I think they are defiantly worth checking out.

My new buy for my daughter's room

So I ordered this really neat starry sky rotating projection light for my 3 year old daughters room from Amazon. She has been having a hard time falling asleep lately and I thought the lights might relax her busy little mind and she could fall asleep watching the stars go round her room. Well score one for this Mom becasue she really likes this light and it helps her relax faster than before.

What I think is super cool about this rotating projection light is that when more than 2 colors are on the look is 4D. It looks so cool that I bet it would make some people dizzy. I like that this can be run on batteries or be plugged into the wall with the included USB cable, but there is no wall adapter included.

This light can be used as a regular night light when the removable dome is on. We don't use it that way though, because the rotating stars are just so cool. There as lots of colors and color combinations to chose from. There is white, blue, red, green, and yellow. There are 3 buttons on the front of the light that are the controls.

The only down side to this rotating projection light is that it does make noise when the rotation is turned on. Kind of like a hum. It doesn't seem to bother my daughter. She does has a diffuser going at night and that makes a low noise too. Plus it has prime shipping so I got it in 2 days!

Are you shopping for Christmas presents yet?

There are only 9 weeks until Christmas!  I know right it hit be a little hard too.  I do most of shopping for gifts online.  I really don't miss the crowded stores and I can find some pretty darn good deals online too. Plus there are always coupon codes that I find on sites like retailmenot.com (link here) and I also use Ebates.com (link here) too.

I decided this year to get an early start on my Christmas.  I found a few good toys on Amazon that I think are good for both young boys and girls and best of both are under $20.

The Lewo Magnetic Art Easel Animals Puzzle Games for Kids, is fun and compact.  I think it would be best for kids 3-5 years of age.  It comes with A Dry Erase marker with an eraser on the end cap, a Three piece Chalk set , an eraser for the chalk and an idea booklet for arranging the shapes, plus over 100 colorful magnet pieces to make animals.  The top is double sided, one is the chalk board and the other is the dry erase board that is also magnetic.

The magnet pieces are made of wood and have a decal on top of them.   There are over 27 animals that my daughter has made playing with this toy.  I think this would be nice for travel. In fact when we go on our road trip this weekend I am bringing this along for my 3 year old to play with.  I am not letting her play with the marker in the car thought because it is not washable.

My daughter liked this Magnetic Art Easel so much I have ordered 2 more for my nieces.

There is also the Lewo Classic Colorful Wooden Tumbling Tower Blocks, This is labeled as a drinking game which I think is super weird but really this is just a rainbow colored Jenga.  It is so much fun to play.  There are  48 colored pieces. It does come with a  wooded dice to play with.

                                   https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0192VWSSY

We have played this as a family a few times and it is fun.  My 3 year old really just likes to build with the blocks just like the picture below.

I see how this could be a fun drinking game to play with adults. But it really is a fun family game. To play each person takes a turn and rolls the dice, which ever color it show is the block color that is to be removed.  The person who knocks the tower down loses the game.

I think this game would be great for any age, it is marketed for 3 years and older, but kids, adults, and teens would enjoy this game.

I hope my insight on these toys gives a few gift options for your Holiday gift giving list.

Rainbow Headphones with amazing sound!

                                                     https://www.amazon.com/

I am beyond thrilled with my new Limited Edition Diskin Bluetooth Headphones.  I know Beats by Dre are all the rage but you know, after watching Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel'le I am even prouder to have have a purchased a different brand that has just as amazing sound quality.

                               https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G08N4VM

These headphones have some seriously good sound.  They hit the bass notes pretty hard as well as the high notes too.  The sound is so clear and crisp at any volume.

These headphones are Bluetooth compatible but can also be plugged directly into any sound system with the 3.5 mm Aux-in cable.  So I can listen to my records after the kids are asleep or I can stream music from my phone.  Both sound great.   The Bluetooth has clear sound up to 33 feet away from my phone.   Also becasue these connect to my phone I can answer calls and talk too.

These headphones are very comfortable to wear. The ear phones are fully padded and can be worn a very long time. The headband part is  adjustable so they fit just about any size head.  They are to big for my 3 year old but I am fine with her not using these. I would perfer she doesn't.  All the controls are on the left ear piece.  I can skip songs, change the volume and take calls with using these buttons.

Limited Edition Diskin Headphones come with a hard case to store them in.  The headphones fold up onto them self to fit in the case.  There is even a little pocket to hold the USB charging cable  and the Aux cable.   The battery life is very impressive  with, lasts up to  13 hours and fully charges in 2-3 hours.

With the Holidays right around the corner I highly recommend  Limited Edition Diskin Headphones.  They are a fantastic buy and quality.  They come packaged very nicely as well.  They are in a very stylish box and are nestled in black foam.

I bet you are wondering what makes these "Special Edition" right, well the rainbow detail along the side. They are marketed as LGBT Gay Pride Rainbow Flag Headphones, which I support 100% but I also have a liking for anything rainbow, which I love them so much.  Diskin has other color and styles of head phones also available (link Here), but These are more my style!

                   Scratch Off World Map

My husband and I have always talked about traveling before kids but that never happened. So I now we want to travel with the kids! So while talking to my family and trying to make some really loose plans I realized that just talking about it wan't going to make it happen.

              https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M03P8M3

Long story short I came across this really neat Scratch Off Travel Map. (link Here) So basically it is a poster off the world but there is a gold layer that can be scratched off like a lottery ticket to mark the places around the world the family has gone.  I think that is a really cool idea but this map also comes with eight sheets of stickers. The stickers include famous land marks, pin points, bullseyes, flags and some other stickers to decorate the map with.  There is also a special coin included that is about the size of a quarter.

I like having this map becasue we now have made some serious plans to travel. Which or plans our just to travel in the USA but hey, it is a start and I can scratching off some states down south.

I think this would make a really cool gift for someone who travels.  My best friends husbands travels a lot for his job and I am going to get them one of these maps for Christmas so before he leaves or comes home he can show the kids where he is going or has been.

All Nature Whipped Body Butter with Shea & Cocoa butters!

I love fall it is my favorite time of year. I love the colors of the nature, I love the scent in the air, I love all the fall veggies and fruits, and the fashions.  But my skin not so much it is dry and gets itchy.  I make my own body butters and have been for years now.  I normally use shea butter as my base but I wanted to dry something that had more moisture like raw cocoa butter.

I have made my cocoa butter whipped body butter twice now. The first time I made it should have been posted as a Pinterest fail for sure, well maybe not a total fail but it wasn't the results I wanted.
First off I didn't realize how hard and solid raw cocoa butter is. I knew that it would have to melt it to work with it.

The first time I ordered this off of Amazon was a by a brand that I use a lot and their raw shea butter is my favorite (link  Here). It is Majestic Pure. Their cocoa butter comes in jar which is a huge pain to work with as far as getting it out of the jar. I had to jab it with a fork to break it up.  But the cocoa butter it's self is fantastic.  I do think it would be more user friendly if it came in pieces or a bag with pieces.  (link  Here.)

This is my first attempt, it was to crumbly.

I used 1/2 cup of cocoa butter, 1/2 cup of she butter, 1/4 cup coconut oil.  I don't think I added enough coconut oil to the first butter I made becasue it came out as a crumbly and not a whipped texture like I wanted.  I think the recipe I used would have been much better as a lotion bar because it did melt on contact with my skin.

The second time I made my body butter I was very happy with the results.

My second batch with more coconut then the first batch

1/2 cup cocoa butter ( changed brands becasue it was easier to work with,  Link Here)
1/2 cup shea butter   (Link Here)
1/3 cup coconut oil ( I used Trader Joes, I can't find an affordable link, I bought mine in store)
15 drops of Jojoba oil ( Link Here)

I grated both butters with a box grater and added that along with the coconut oil to a make shift double boiler.  Once melted I placed in a glass bowl and put it in the fridge to cool. Once it was almost solid again I whipped it with a hand mixer and than added the jojoba oil. (any oil can be added at this point, vitamin E, almond oil, or olive oil)  Then I mixed it again for minute.  I placed it back in the fridge for 15 minutes and whipped one last time.  I then added my new ultra moisturizing and fluffy body butter to mason jars.

I forgot to take a picture before I whipped the body butter.  It won't be as translucent as the melted mixture.  When the lotion began to cool the sides became more opaque and lighter in color.

Creative use for battery operated LED lights.

I found such an easy and safe way to decorate with pumpkins.  I bought some of those foam carvable pumpkins while they were on sale at Joann Fabrics (link Here).  It's not that I don't like real pumpkins, my porch is covered with them.  I wanted pumpkins for inside and ones I won't have to worry about drying out.  These pumpkins are hallow but I did have to cut a hole in the bottom to insert my battery operated lights (link Here).

I broke out my husbands cordless drill and started drilling random holes all over the pumpkin. When I was satisfied with all my holes I than took my utility knife and cut out a hole in the bottom of the pumpkin.

I then inserted the  LED String Lights by LGXANTT into the  hole I made in the bottom of the pumpkin.  I like to use these LED micro lights becasue they are on a very flexible wire making the perfect for just about any craft. They run on 3 AA batteries so I don't have to worry about having to plug the lights in.  Plus the lights stay cool to the touch making them a safe choice.

                                     https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01L9OK79E

Then I just just flip the pumpkin over and set it anywhere.  I am making 2 more of pumpkins just like this one to have on my kitchen table for now and probably through Thanksgiving.   In my opinion I think the pumpkin came out great!

Let's talk about sex, baby! Well lets talk vibrators!

I won't be shy I have many toys that my husband and I enjoy using. I recently added a new toy to our collection. The rabbit massager!  I love the look of this toy, no fake pink dildo here, just an elegant looking toy that I love to use.

This can be used alone or with a partner!  The feel of this rabbit is very soft and smooth. It is coated in a seamless silicone, which I think is awesome becasue this toy is also waterproof!

As far as how this works, well it hits all the right spots.  Many women my self included have a difficult climaxing without clitoral stimulation, well if you are like me I recommend this toy.  There are 7 different speeds and different vibration settings to chose form.  Each time the setting is changed the base will light up a different color.  I like that this is also quiet.  I don't need my kids hearing any buzzing.

I love that this is rechargeable! I was going through an abnormal amount of AA batteries if you know what I mean!  It comes with  a USB charger, an instruction manual, and a black pouch to store the rabbit in.  It also comes delivered in a very discrete black box sealed in plastic wrap.. So I wasn't worried about my anyone opening the package.

The only bummer about this rabbit is that is recommend to use a water-based lube. I didn't have any when I first recieved this. I had to go buy some.  I normally use coconut oil for lube.

                I am loving infused salt!

                        https://www.amazon.com/Black-Truffle-Organic-Sea-Salt

I have recently discovered Black Truffle Sea Salt and I am sprinkling it on everything form popcorn to steak.   I do wish the truffle flavor was a little bit more bolder, but it is still really tasty.

I ordered Black Truffle Organic Sea Salt by Saltopia and I love that it comes in this small apothecary style glass jar, there is a latch to lock it closed. It also comes with a small wooden spoon but I just use my fingers and sprinkle it on whatever I want to.

My favorite ways to use slat is to sprinkle on fresh popped popcorn that I toss in brown butter, the combination of the nutty brown butter and the earthy flavor of the truffle takes my snacking to the next level.  I also like to season our steaks with it too.  I season the steak right after it comes off the grill with this truffle salt and top with sauteed mushroom and onions..MMMM.. so good.

I think this would make a great gift to any food on your list come this holiday season!

My thoughts on  the Turtlemeter by Ozeri

Since my youngest is now 3 years old I really didn't think I had a need for a bath tub thermometer.  But lately my daughter is complaining about the water being too hot for her when it is bath time.  She apparently now prefers her bath water to be seven  degrees above room temperature.  Which in turn means that in 3 minutes her bath water is too cold.

So I thought using a friendly bath tub thermometer would be a good way to show her that when the turtles shell has red it is too hot, when it is blue it is too cold, but when it is green it is just right.
As far a accuracy is concerned it is about four degrees off according to my cooking thermometer.

                                           https://www.amazon.com/Ozeri-Turtlemete

I don't let her play with play with the thermometer, I actually take it out after we agree on the temperature.  I don't think this is made to be a toy so I don't want her to break it.

After using this for almost two weeks now I think it works well and I don't have to argue about the water temperature with a 3 year old.

Do you use solar lights?  I do and why not?  They are the most efficient way to decorate. They are eco-friendly  and doesn't cost any electricity to light up!

                                    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01L6WUPN2

I love solar lights for indoor and outside use. I think it is such and eco and wallet friendly way to decorate.  I mean come on being able to use the power of of the sun power something is so cool to me.  I have lots of wire solar lights in my backyard.  But the 6 sets that I have are just the copper wire and the lights, they get tangled very easily and the dang squirrels keep chewing through them.  The new set of solar lights I purchased have a clear coating to protect the wire and the lights. But best of all these do not tangle like the others, It is almost impossible to tangle these lights.

I am using these for a Christmas wreath  that I am working on.  I have wrapped them around  a wire hoop.  The lights were very easy to handle when wrapping.  I am planing on adding some  gold shimmery fabric around the lights to make the  wreath glow from under the fabric.

Because these are powered by the sun there is a solar panel that obviously needs to be in direct sunlight, but there is a wire that is over 2 feet long that leads to the solar panel, so I can have the panel sitting in a window.

Another cool thing about this set of solar lights is that once I turn it on and choose either steady mode or flashing mode I don't have to worry about turning it on.  When it gets dark these light automatically come on and stay on until it is light out. So I really just set it up and forget about and just enjoy the lights.

These would work very well for outside use in a flower garden all year round but also a very cost efficient way to decorate for Christmas too.

This does come with a stake to attach the solar panel to for out door use. The head is adjustable so it is easy to angle it towards the sun.

I highly recommend think about using solar for your next lighting project.
